I’m teaching a 3 week series about Jesus. I’m going to focus on the characteristics of Jesus that are the most radical. Then I got to thinking…
What, if Jesus were alive today, would be the most shocking aspect of his character or personality? What would really suprise us?
Here are what I think are the most [...]

sharing the Gospel with aliens….
The presence of life on other planets is a highly debated topic. Some people believe that life does exist on other planets. Assuming that life does exist on other planets, should we share Jesus with them? Would God want us to travel to the ends of the universe? Should we boldy go where no missionary has [...]

Tiananmen Square: stand bold…..
This is a photo taken of the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. A group of college students were protesting China’s communist government. I love this picture. I have the poster in my dorm. Everytime i see it I ask myself, “what sort of dedication and belief would cause this sort of action?”

when are we most like Christ? when we teach about him? or when we treat others with love?

I sat in a meeting today of a church’s “ministry leadership team” and we were discussing how to efficiently and effectively recruit volunteers.
i learned this…
allow your volunteers to truly enjoy their roles in growing God’s kingdom and they will invite others to join with them
don’t waste the time of volunteers by making them do [...]

God’s take over
Brian McLaren writes in his book, “The Secret Message of Jesus,” about God’s take over of this earth:
Why no weapons? Why no well-oiled political machine? Why live in constant vulnerability? WHy not identify a scapegoat, an enemy, a target of hatred? Because, Jesus says again and again, this kigdom advances with neither violence not bloodshed, [...]

essentials and non-essentials
I have experienced many Christians debating, arguing, and disagreeing over a myriad of faith items.
Recently, I became especially interested in what women’s roles in a church might include or be limited to. I spent much time reading, writing, and studying different views and interpretations of scripture to find out that I could support both sides [...]
