essentials and non-essentials

I have experienced many Christians debating, arguing, and disagreeing over a myriad of faith items.

Recently, I became especially interested in what women’s roles in a church might include or be limited to. I spent much time reading, writing, and studying different views and interpretations of scripture to find out that I could support both sides of the argument with scripture. So what am I to do?

Listen to this phrase and think about it, “In essentials, unity – in nonessentials, liberty – and in all things, love.

When you or others try to argue over some issue, ask yourself, “Is this an essential?”

the below images are graphs to help see what things are essentials (core) and which are not (non-core). Thanks to Dan Kimball for the images.
