The focus of the New Testament is not how to get into heaven, but how to live in this present reality.

Surely the New Testament has zero concern with “getting to heaven”, that’s dualist nonsense that never shows up in the New Testament.

Surely the New Testament has plenty of concern with “how to live” (today). That’s in the Gospels right through to Revelation.

But, these seem to be too overly simplistic and leaves out way too much to be definitive. [Biggest example: the focus of the New Testament is actually the Lord Jesus Christ].

  2. The two primary concerns of the gospels are 1) what it means to live in the Kingdom of God (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) and 2) what it means to be conformed to God’s will in the same way that Christ was (John). Heaven is essentially beside the point, because our salvation is rooted in the faith and the fruits that it bears in this reality.
