Heretic? Who isn’t?

Dictionary definition of heretic:

  • a professed believer who maintains religious opinions contrary to those accepted by his or her church or rejects doctrines prescribed by that church.
  • anyone who does not conform to an established attitude, doctrine, or principle.
  • A person who holds controversial opinions, especially one who publicly dissents from the officially accepted dogma of the Roman Catholic Church.

Lots of Christians who are furthering the Kingdom of God are publicly ridiculed and titled: heretic. What should we do?

by this definition, who isn’t a heretic? How many people examine the doctrinal statements of their church close enough to know whether they are a heretic or not?

I was just browsing and came across your blog in Stumbleupon.

I attend a church where I feel most of the time I can adhere to the beliefs but the odd thing although not necessarily unbiblical is outside my comfort zone, so I put it on the back burner to check it out or wait and see. So I suppose by your definition I would be a heretic.
