an encouraging letter from a parent

Just got this email from a parent (changed the names). Simple and to the point. It’s great to get some encouragement like this because – sadly – encouraging comments seemed to get drowned out amongst the discouraging ones.

I just wanted to let you that *** had a really good time last weekend.  We dont usually hear about the conferences but we have noticed some changes in him.  Like for example, he looked up a couple of bible verses in his bible and underlined them.

Yesterday after church, he told us that communion had a whole new meaning for him yesterday. So I know hes experiencing the Holy Spirit in his life.

Thanks again for all you do.

hey brother… don’t know if you internship with me and GCC touched on this, but encouragement letters like this need to go in your “keep going” file.

when you don’t think you’re making an impact, you need to pull notes like that out, or notes/emails/messages from kids and realize that you are bearing fruit that you can not see, and that even you will forget about.

Adam, I have no doubt you are impacting kids all the time for the Lord. I’m glad someone reminded you in writing. Now I’m encouraged to do the same for our Youth Pastor. Thanks for sharing! Mom #2

  3. Those notes make everything worth it. Being a teacher I can relate…there is always a lot of negative and notes like that can life your spirits and open your eyes. You really are making a difference in children’s lives. It’s such a great feeling isn’t it? BTW…. not sure if you know who I am or not (through my blog anyway)…but I went to AC with you. So, just thought I would say hi too!
